Latest Updates from Our Project:

Stretch Goal Update and a Status Report
almost 5 years ago – Wed, May 08, 2019 at 12:44:57 AM

The $62,500 stretch goal -- unlocking a reprint of the Wizard character pads -- was shattered yesterday and we're now less than $600 from the $65,000 stretch goal. Over 250% funded and only eight days into the campaign, not bad at all! With the $65,000 stretch goal close to falling, we've revealed two new stretch goals:

  • $72,500 - Another sheet of megahexes added to the box (total of 9 sheets). And please don't forget the megahex add-on; only $15 for a duplicate copy of the megahex sheets included in Decks of Destiny. That's the same price as the megahex add-on from last year's campaign, with each unlocked sheet making the add-on an even better value!
  • $75,000 - We increase the number of green and black pearlized six-sided dice from three to four of each. Also, as you have already guessed, this means that the add-on green and black dice packs jump from three each to four each. And we know you always need more dice.

Megahex Six-Sided Dice?

Yesterday's Daily Illuminator post shared a couple of dice concepts that, possibly, we will move forward with as a stretch goal to this campaign. The designs (shown below) are not 100% final; these are concepts and we're discussing the two with the factory to check on what is/is not possible. Which of these two concepts would you like to see moved from image to reality?

Choose one! Please comment and let us know which concept you prefer.

BGG and Facebook Stretch Goals

The 300 hearts at BGG stretch goal is now at 257 favorites, putting us closer to breaking the stretch goal and adding a new journal to the I Want All The Newness box. If you've not yet clicked the heart icon, please visit the Legacy Edition page at BGG and help us unlock this stretch goal!

On the Facebook shares front, this post has now been shared 126 times, putting us over the 50% mark. Please share the post today and let's pack even more into the project!

Status Report

And speaking of the BGG site, please check out this BGG blog post for an update on the various projects that we have in the works for The Fantasy Trip. And, as always, please be sure to thumbs up the post and leave any relevant comments and feedback there. More thumbs and discussion helps us to raise awareness of The Fantasy Trip which is a very good thing. Thanks!

More Stretch Goals?

We have our plans for what to include in the Decks of Destiny project, but that doesn't stop us from asking: What do you want to see included as a part of this campaign? There's no way that we can act on every suggestion, as you well know, though that doesn't stop us from being open to ideas. And even if a suggestion doesn't make it into this project, that doesn't mean that we won't consider the great ideas for future expansions to The Fantasy Trip. So please, everyone, let us know your desires in the comments! Thank you!

More dice!
almost 5 years ago – Sun, May 05, 2019 at 11:20:47 PM

The $60,000 stretch goal behind us, we can look forward to the black pearlized dice with silver ink. Included in the I Want All The Newness shipping carton, these dice will match the style, shape, and size of the Melee and Wizard dice -- as well as the green pearlized dice that were unlocked earlier in this campaign -- giving you even more choices when it comes to deciding: Which dice will I use when I attack the darkness?

And as you requested, these new dice are available as an add-on item. To get a duplicate polybag of three of the black pearlized dice, increase your pledge by $3. And you know the drill: You'll tell us exactly which items you want added to your rewards in the BackerKit stage of the project.

BGG Stretch Goal

We're now at 209 fans of the Legacy Edition page on BGG and need another 91 to unlock the stretch goal. Visit BGG today and click the heart icon on this page to help push us closer to unlocking that stretch goal!

And while you're there, please take a few moments to comment and rate the game. Your comments and ratings at the site help other gamers who are looking for information on the game. Thank you for taking time to let the BGG readers know how much you're enjoying the Legacy Edition set!

Next Stretch Goals?

Coming up, we've got the Wizard character pads, the new player storage box, and two more stretch goals to pack more cards inside the Adversaries pack (including more creature cards!). What comes after that? We have several more stretch goals planned including more cards and megahexes -- of course! -- more dice (including custom designs), and other additions to The Fantasy Trip that are all designed around expanding your game and giving you more tools to run adventures.

Let's get more backers in here, unlock the revealed stretch goals, and keep pushing forward, gang! Please talk about the Decks of Destiny campaign at your favorite forums and blogs; more support = more unlocked stretch goals! We can make this set every bit as heavy as the Legacy Edition, right?

Stretch Goal Unlocked, New Stretch Goal Reveals, and "How Does Decks Of Destiny Work In A Game?"
almost 5 years ago – Fri, May 03, 2019 at 06:11:03 PM

Thanks to unlocking the $55,000 stretch goal, you've added more cards to the Adversaries portion of the Decks of Destiny box. That's more opponents for you to face in an adventure -- or, as the GM, to add to your pool of baddies -- and we're not done yet! There's still a month to go before this campaign comes to a close, so we've got many more stretch goals to reveal.

New Stretch Goals

And speaking of stretch goals, we have two new goals for you.

  •  Wizard Character Pads. We've heard you request for more of the Wizard character pads and can now state that if we surpass $62,500 in funding before this project comes to a close, we will add a reprint of the Wizard character pads to the I Want All The Newness storage box.
  • Player Storage Box. You always need options in how you collect and carry your game content, and that's where the $65,000 stretch goal enters the scene: If unlocked, we will pack a 5-inch by 7-inch by 1-inch box into the I Want All The Newness shipping carton. The tuck box will be packed flat to save space; once it is in your hands, pop it up and fold to create this attractive box to carry your character journal, cards, pencils, dice, and more to the next game.

"How Does Decks Of Destiny Work In A Game?"

Today's Daily Illuminator post offers up some ideas on how you can use the various components packed inside the Decks of Destiny box in your campaign. From solo play to gamemastered adventures, the new tools can expand your choices and, we suspect, will influence your playing style as you draw cards to construct encounters and stories.

Social Stretch Goals

Last up, please don't forget to become a fan of the Legacy Edition at BGG. For those of you who have asked "didn't I already do this last year?," please note that if you "hearted" the game during the campaign, we were directing attention to the RPGGeek site. The BGG page is separate; check it our here!

Also, the Facebook shares goal can use your support. Please share this post to help us reach that goal and unlock more for the game.

Thanks!

Melee Character Pads Unlocked, New Add-On Options, and the Rumors Journal
almost 5 years ago – Thu, May 02, 2019 at 09:39:47 PM

One of the components from the Legacy Edition that we're asked about the most these days, the Melee character pads, is officially set for a reprint! Thanks to unlocking the $52,500 stretch goal, we're happy to report that we're adding a pack of three of these character pads into the I Want All The Newness shipping carton. And, because we know you would riot if we didn't, we're also opening the pack of three character pads as a $5 add-on item. You wanted more? Here's your chance to get more!

Optional Add-Ons

Three new add-on options for those of you who have been asking for more goodies. These three add-ons are not included in any of the reward levels; they're not officially TFT items, though each certainly would work with the game.

  •  Dice Bags. Two of the three new add-ons, these 6-inch by 9-inch deluxe dice bags can each hold over 100 dice and are satin-lined, drawstring bags. We started working with the factory on these designs months ago, and we're officially announcing them for release later this year. Since we know so many of you love dice, we thought some of you would like an early peek -- and first shot! -- at these two new bags.
Dice bag add-ons, $12/each. Each bag includes one 19mm six-sided die.

  •  Robin's Laws of Good Game Mastering - This book has been out-of-print for well over a decade, and we're happy to report that it is coming back to stores late this summer. You may, if you wish, add it to your Kickstarter rewards for this project; increase your pledge by $13 and then let us know in BackerKit that you want the book!

Rumors Journal?

Some of you have asked: "What is the rumors journal that is included in the Rumors & Treasures part of the Decks of Destiny box?" Great question, gang, and now is the time that we tell you all about this small 3.5-inch by 5.5-inch journal.

The journal includes all of the rumor cards, printed one to a page, along with space to make notes about what happened when you used the rumor in a game session. Either players or a GM can make use of the journal:

  • Players. When you run across a rumor in the campaign, jot down the source, whether or not you followed up on things, and what your character may have learned when investigating the rumor. One of the pages in the character journal is all about rumors, meaning that you can make brief notes in the character journal and then detailed notes here.
  • GMs. There are a few different ways to use the journal. You could go through the entire journal when preparing an adventure or campaign, and write down any modifications you want to make to the rumors, info on which NPCs may have knowledge relevant to the rumors, and exactly where those rumors may be discovered by the party. Or, for those of you less into prep, flip to the appropriate page when you use a rumors card in play and make all of the necessary notes right then. Either way, the journal gives you a permanent method of tracking how rumors play out in your campaign.

For those of you expecting to participate in multiple TFT adventures and campaigns over the years, you may wish to add an extra journal or two to your rewards. The rumors and treasure journals are available as set; increase your pledge by $7 and then note in BackerKit that you want the pair included in your rewards.

Each page includes one rumors card and space for campaign notes.

Thanks for the support!

We're not yet a week into the campaign and we're already over 200% funded! Thanks, everyone, for your support and for making this box heavier and heavier with each unlocked stretch goal. And thank you for your questions. Asking us to explain parts of the project benefits everyone, so please don't hesitate if you're unsure of any part of this campaign and would like some more info. We'll answer as best we can.

Stretch Goals Unlocked and a Peek at the Character Journal
about 5 years ago – Wed, May 01, 2019 at 10:54:06 PM

Two stretch goals have been unlocked, adding a hex grid journal to the Adversaries part of the Decks of Destiny box as well as another sheet of megahexes (total of eight sheets so far!). Those megahexes are becoming an incredible value for those of you looking to expand your labyrinths; as more sheets are unlocked, we also add them to the add-on that is only $15. For everyone who has asked "Where can we get more megahexes?" This is your chance!

We've also revealed a new BGG goal: If we can get 300 fans of the Legacy Edition at BGG before this project comes to a close, we will include a blank 3.5-inch by 5.5-inch pocket journal in the I Want All The Newness shipping box. What will the journal look like? Here's a look at the work-in-progress. (As with the entire project, things may change as we continue working, but this is close to the final design.)

Not quite final.
Not quite final.

Character Journal?

Speaking of journals, we've been asked about the character journal that is included in the Player's Pack (and available as a separate $3 add-on item). What is it? Who needs it? How many do you need? Easy to answer!

  • The journal is an extended character sheet, with space on the inside cover for all of the relevant game stats and then pages to record your adventures. Friends. Enemies. Cities visited. Space for house rules. Even room to record adventures your character took.
  • Each player who want more than a basic character sheet needs one of these 3.5-inch by 5.5-inch pocket journals.
  • Do you need extras? Completely your call! We will try to print extras of these to offer for sale in the future, but we don't know how much demand there will be after the Kickstarter campaign closes so our extras will number in the low hundreds and not into the thousands. So grab as many now as you think you may want for your adventures!

The journal is an optional accessory that is best for campaign games. GMs can, of course, also use the character journal to record major NPCs and villains, so stock up now!

Hopefully that helps to better explain the journal. Any more questions? Please ask in the comments and we'll answer as best we can. Okay? Thanks!
