Latest Updates from Our Project:

Smoke Test!
almost 5 years ago – Fri, Jun 28, 2019 at 09:38:39 PM

It's official, gang! Darryll has completed the BackerKit survey and the smoke test has officially launched. For those of you new to our Kickstarter campaigns, the smoke test is an early stage of the BackerKit survey where a small percentage of project supporters are given access to the survey. This is our chance to check the details, make sure everything is working, and make any necessary corrections to the pledge manager before we open the survey to everyone.

If all goes well, we will open the survey to all backers before our team heads out for the July 4th holiday next week. We may be able to send the survey to all of you by Monday (July 1); we just have to run the test and see how things are shaking out before we're ready to give a final survey date.

If you have any questions about your survey, please let us know and we'll help as best we can!

PDF Update + A Stretch Goal Tweak
almost 5 years ago – Thu, Jun 20, 2019 at 08:33:28 PM

Please remember that any feedback on the PDFs must be posted to this update by June 24th. Comments posted elsewhere will likely be missed; we need to contain all feedback to this update to make things easier to manage.

With that out of the way, it's time to dive into the meat of today's project update . . .

The PDFs on Warehouse 23 now include the Decks of Destiny box files as well as the twelve stretch goals that are related to the Four Perilous Journeys campaign that ran on Kickstarter at the same time as Decks of Destiny. During the campaign, we promised a total of 12 cards would be added to Decks of Destiny as the Four Perilous Journeys project took on support. Those 12 cards were:

  • Eight rumor cards.
  • Four character cards.

We have revised the exact content of the cards and we're replacing the above with:

  • Five rumor cards.
  • Three treasure cards.
  • Four character cards.

The exact number of cards is unchanged. This adjustment to the card mix was made to spread the flavor just a little more. You're still getting twelve cards, but we felt it important to highlight this change so that you would be aware that we have slightly modified one of the stretch goals.

It is almost the 24th, gang, so please be sure to share your feedback to this update ASAP. We're going to move the project forward next week, and we would like to catch and correct as many errors as possible before sending the game to print.

PDFs, BackerKit Stretch Goals
almost 5 years ago – Sat, Jun 15, 2019 at 11:29:07 PM

Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback on the PDFs. Please remember that we need all feedback by June 24 (post any comments on the PDFs to this update) so that we can keep the project moving and on schedule.

For those of you who backed at the $60 reward level and higher who have not yet received PDFs, please email [email protected] for support. The team arranging for PDF delivery does not regularly read comments here at Kickstarter; the fastest way to gain access is by email them at [email protected]

BackerKit Stretch Goals?

Yep, we have ideas. Ben has been working on some possible deck box designs (we're still crunching numbers), Steve added 10 more creature cards to the set than we're planning to produce, and we have a few factory prototypes in the works that would make fun additions to the campaign . . . all of which is a way of saying: Yes, there will be BackerKit stretch goals! We'll make the formal announcement once the BackerKit survey enters the smoke testing phase.

Regular Updates

If you've not backed a Steve Jackson Games campaign at Kickstarter before, we want you to know that we're here and working for you. Our goal with every project is to maintain communication throughout the campaign, sharing the good news and bad news and, hopefully, keeping you informed throughout the process. And if you ever have questions, please ask here at the campaign or contact us -- [email protected] -- and we'll do our best to answer.

Thanks for the support, gang, and we hope that you're enjoying The Fantasy Trip and the Decks of Destiny!

PDFs and feedback.
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Jun 11, 2019 at 02:31:06 AM

Many of you have already received the first wave of Decks of Destiny PDFs. As we mentioned last week, we've sent these out to get as many errors caught as possible before the files are sent to the factory. If you notice mistakes, please comment here and only here by June 24. We need to contain all of the comments to a single place so that Steve and Ben don't go insane trying to chase down feedback.

If you backed at $60 or higher and do not have access to the files in your Warehouse 23 account, please contact [email protected] for support. The team will do their best to work everything out and get the PDFs to you as quickly as possible.

New Cthulhu Dice Colors Trigger An Idea

New color tests for Cthulhu Dice arrived at the office today, and while looking at the prototypes I realized that we could create a use for the die in The Fantasy Trip. Maybe it's an an artifact that uses the die, or an adventure where the die randomizes some of the encounters, or perhaps the die is tied to a new monster and all damage is rolled on the custom die, rather than standard six-sided dice, with each icon representing a different damage result. Time to put on the thinking cap and see if there's an idea here that's worth exploring for a future Hexagram issue.

PDF Scheduling
almost 5 years ago – Fri, Jun 07, 2019 at 01:55:18 AM

Steve and Ben have been hard at work on finalizing the Decks of Destiny and we have great news: Starting early next week, we will deliver PDF rewards to backers at the $60, $100, $150, and $320 reward levels so that you can review the materials and, hopefully, help us correct any errors before the project goes to print. The PDFs will not be 100% complete -- there are a few components that will follow over the next few weeks -- but the majority of the material will be included in the first wave of PDFs.

We will deliver these PDFs through Warehouse 23, connecting your Kickstarter account to your Warehouse 23 account where possible. We'll make an announcement once the PDFs are delivered. After that time, if you have not received the files, we'll work with you to add the PDFs to your Warehouse 23 account.

Note that only the $60, $100, $150, and $320 reward levels will receive these PDFs.

Comments are due by June 24, 2019. We'll let you know how to provide feedback once we issue the PDFs. By sending out the PDFs ASAP, we can finalize the project earlier than originally planned and send the files to the factory ahead of schedule; this will help guarantee that we can meet the estimated delivery date.

As always, we encourage you to visit thefantasytrip.game website and follow Steve Jackson Games on Facebook for the latest news on The Fantasy Trip roleplaying game. We've got more projects in the works and we're planning to keep up the support for as long as we have your support. Thank you, everyone, for making the game's first year such a success!
