Project Update
over 4 years ago – Tue, Aug 27, 2019 at 09:00:56 PM

Two bits of info today:

  • The tooling sample of Decks of Destiny is expected in mid-September. Once we receive and approve the sample, we will share photos . . . and have a more detailed delivery timeline.
  • We have approved all four of the metal dice designs. The wizard and dragon were offered during this project; the warrior and octopus dice will be offered in an upcoming dice preorder campaign. More news to come on the dice campaign!

Metal Dice Update, Waiting on Tooling Samples
over 4 years ago – Wed, Aug 14, 2019 at 08:35:59 PM

All of the Decks of Destiny jpeg proofs have been approved and we're now waiting to see the tooling samples. Tooling is our last chance to catch and correct errors before manufacturing begins; we will share photos of the tooling samples once they arrive.

Metal Dice

The wizard and dragon dice samples are in, as well as two other metal dice designs that have not yet been assigned home. The sculpts look amazing, and each die is a heavy, solid work of art that's going to look great in any collection.

The black wash over the die faces is a little too heavy in some spots; we're working with our partners at GPI to find the perfect balance so that the details pop. The dice are now ready to move to the next stage of the manufacturing process . . . and we really do need to find a home for those other two designs.

Manufacturing Update, Megahex Dice Samples, and More!
almost 5 years ago – Wed, Jul 31, 2019 at 03:04:24 AM

Yesterday, Sabrina and Shelli completed their checks of the Decks of Destiny jpeg proofs and reported the necessary corrections to the factory. There were no major errors , but fixes were made to the box, Read This First sheet, skill cards, and labyrinth journal. Thank you to Sabrina and Shelli for taking the time necessary to spot -- and fix! -- these issues.

Now we wait for the physical tooling sample of the components. We will, as always, share photos of those samples once they arrive.

Megahex Dice

During the funding portion of this campaign, we shared concept designs for a megahex six-sided die. After working with the factory, we moved to the tooling stage and we now have physical samples. The die looks incredible! Thank you to all of the forum members and Decks of Destiny backers who provided feedback on the design. The die is not yet assigned to any project; we'll find a home for this design in the future.

If you called "black!" when rolling these two dice, you would have rolled a 4 (left) and 1 (right).

Other Dice

We shared the ray gun, robot, and rocket dice designs recently; as with the megahex die in this update, those new ray gun, robot, and rocket dice do not yet have a home and are not yet available for sale.

We've had requests for a dice preorder page or Kickstarter campaign; we are investigating both ideas and will make an announcement if we launch a project for dice.

Would a preorder campaign at Warehouse 23 suit your needs, or would you rather see us use a crowdfunding platform (like Kickstarter or BackerKit) for a dice project? Let us know in the comments!

An Experiment

We received a new factory sample that will definitely get more attention once we return from Gen Con. These robot meeples turned out so cute!!!

And now we are left asking: What other meeples would be fun to create?

The robot meeples match the designs on the 19mm robot d6.

Are You At Gen Con?

Our team opens the booth on Thursday and if you're at the show, please swing by and see us! We'll be running demos of several games including The Fantasy Trip, Deadly Doodles, and the upcoming edition of Car Wars

If you're not at Gen Con, watch our Twitter and Facebook accounts for pics and info from the show.

Thanks, gang! We will be slow to respond to messages for the next week. We hope that you understand. Please know that if there are troubles with your BackerKit survey or any other part of this project, we will help you out just as soon as we get the chance.

As Requested, Hexagram #2 and Outdoor Encounter Cards Added to BackerKit
almost 5 years ago – Mon, Jul 29, 2019 at 09:33:36 PM

We've heard your requests that we make Hexagram #2 and the Outdoor Encounter Cards available in BackerKit, so you may now add both of these to your rewards package. Please note that if you do add these to your BackerKit survey then you won't see either title until the Decks of Destiny project is shipping out. If you want these two expansions for The Fantasy Trip before the winter, please preorder them today at Warehouse 23.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected] for support.

Manufacturing Update (Jpeg Proofs) and Add-Ons Top 10
almost 5 years ago – Sun, Jul 28, 2019 at 08:57:38 PM

Last week, we received the jpeg proofs for the Decks of Destiny project. These are factory-supplied images of all of the components involved in the campaign, and our team reviews and approves each image before the factory proceeds with creating film and the physical tooling sample. This is our last chance to make corrections before thousands of dollars go into the film, so we always take a little extra time in reviewing these proofs. After this stage, corrections to the contents start to get pricey.

Sabrina (with help from Shelli) started reviewing the proofs and will wrap up the checks in the next week or so. For many projects, jpeg proofs can be reviewed in a day. With something of this size, though, it takes a lot of time to check every image. (There are a lot of images! Every card is one proof, so you can see where this starts to require more than a day to check.)

Add-Ons Top 10

The Decks of Destiny Backerkit surveys are set to close next month, and here are the top add-ons that you've selected as a part of your rewards.

  • Wizard Metal Die
  • Megahex Tiles
  • Player's Pack
  • Green Dice Pack
  • Dragon Metal Die
  • Black Dice Pack
  •  Melee and Wizard Dry Erase Character Cards
  •  The Fantasy Trip Dice Set (one each of the Melee and Wizard dice)
  • Octopus Journal
  • Pocket Folder (Style E)

Half of the top 10 are dice? That isn't too shocking; we know how much everyone needs more dice! Regardless of how many dice you own, you always need more dice. We're as guilty of this as anyone! In fact, we're so guilty of it that we keep making more dice!

For example, we revealed these dice on Facebook recently; they're not designed for The Fantasy Trip, but they are fun! The die faces are numbered one through six, and each face also includes one, two, or three star icons, meaning that each also serves as a three-sided die.

New TFT Preorders

What we do have new for The Fantasy Trip, for those of you who have not yet spotted the preorders at Warehouse 23, are these two items:

  •  Hexagram #2 – The second issue of our TFT zine, this 36-page title includes new combat scenarios, a new adventure, Steve's look at the TFT octopus, and more!
  •  Outdoor Encounter Cards – This is an adaptation and reimagining of two decks of cards that I wrote and published last year. For this new edition, Steve took my original work and rewrote, reworked, and – at times – completely replaced my original text and fit the ideas into The Fantasy Trip.

As mentioned, both of these are available for preorder today and, if you're at Gen Con next week, we will have a limited number of each available for sale at the show. The preorders are scheduled to ship in September, so get your preorders in today if you want to add these to your collection of new TFT releases!

Any Questions?

As always, please let us know if you need help completing your survey or if you have any questions about The Fantasy Trip. Asking here in the comments works, but you'll have much better luck if you email us -- [email protected] -- with any questions about your rewards and the survey.

Thanks for the support, gang, and we hope to see some of you at Gen Con next weekend!
